Travel Pictures - GREECE - 1991

All images © Ron Miller

My first and only visit to Greece was very brief and too late in the season to visit
the Mediterranean Islands. However, I did enjoy the historical monuments within
Athens. I have posted a few photos from the ancient Greek capital.

Most of the major temples of the Acropolis, including the Parthenon, were constructed under the leadership
of Pericles during the Golden Age of Athens (460–430 B.C.) -

The elegant design of the Greek temple Erechtheum includes the "porch of the maidens"
with six draped female figures (caryatids) as supporting columns -
